Eleanor was finally able to do whatever she desires. Dr. Montague then sends an invitation to Eleanor with step by step directions leading her to Hill House. The death of her mother and the directions were actually invitations to Eleanors freedom. The author mentions a car in the novel that symbolizes her freedom. With the car, Eleanor had a choice to go to Hill House.

Winfield pays close mind to the vocabulary she uses and how readers are likely to perceive it. This conscious decision benefits and strengthens both the quality of the essay and her argument alike. Although Winfield does present several strong pieces of information to support her argument, she misses an opportunity to validate her position to an even greater extent. In order for the essay to reach it’s full effective and useful potential, information of Eleanor’s strenuous efforts in various organizations should have been included.

As a whole I enjoyed the book, but there were some things that annoyed me and that I didn’t like and/or confused me. Freakonomics makes you think differently about topics you thought you already knew the answer to. To most with little knowledge of writing techniques they would not have noticed/comprehended the authors uses of rhetoric and tone but luckily from these past few years of English classes I was able to pick up and see
