Electra Heart is a fictional character created by artist Marina Diamandis, better known to the public as Marina and the Diamonds, for her second studio album, Electra Heart. This character was created on August 8, 2011, and subsequently died exactly two years later on August 8, 2013, from an apparent suicide. This character has four archetypes, all dealing with the perception of love, and sexuality, to an extent. The first archetype of Electra Heart’s personality is the Housewife, also known as Su-Barbie-A. Songs on the album that reflect this area of Electra’s personality are “Radioactive,” “E.V.O.L.,” “Lonely Hearts Club,” and “Starring Role.” This archetype in particular deals with Electra’s perception of love and the everlasting longing …show more content…

Songs that mirror this image of Electra are “Bubblegum Bitch,” “Primadonna,” “The State of Dreaming,” and “Sex Yeah.” The Beauty Queen is the stereotypical prom queen, cheerleader, homecoming queen, etc. However, Electra conveys this stereotype in a variety of unorthodox ways such as recognizing the inequality of men and women in “Sex Yeah,” and history’s portrayal of both sexes. Also, Electra is a bit demanding and narcissistic, adding to the “drama queen” effect of the persona. This archetype is best mentioned in the songs “How to Be a Heartbreaker,” “Power and Control,” and “Homewrecker.” This addition to Electra’s personality is defined as being uncommitted, carefree, seductive, and controlling. In addition to this, Electra is seen wearing a black heart on her cheek, symbolizing her Homewrecker and Beauty Queen archetype. Electra’s goal in this archetype amongst her other complexities is to control whoever she can, and whenever she pleases. She does so in this persona, saying, “I broke a million hearts just for fun,” and “Power and control; I’m going to make you fall.” In short, the Homewrecker archetype is a fragment of Electra’s personality that includes carelessness of others’ feelings, complete domination, and the chaos of being a
