A Disturbing Life Of Sylvia Plath A tortuous life led to her beloved mother dying, husband dying, and her two suicide attempts. First attempt was a fail and the second attempt took her precious life. But her honor still lives on through her wonderful literature. This is the life of Sylvia Plath. Sylvia was an American poet, short story writer and novelist. Her journey began in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts where she was born on October 27, 1932. She studied at Smith College in 1950, and was awarded a position as a guest editor at ‘Mademoiselle Magazine’ during her third year at Smith. Her father passed away on October 5, 1940. This traumatic event played a very big role in her poetry. At the age of eight, Plath wrote a poem called “Electra on Azalea Path”. This poem was inspired by many visits to her father's grave, she also experienced a strong sexual and mental attachment for herself towards her father. Plath felt a unyielding competition with her mother for affection and attention of her father. Plath states that it was her mother who killed her father and that her mother was the one who conflicted all of the negativity in their relationship. Later on in life Sylvia Plath was blessed with two wonderful children. After they were born she wrote a poem called “Morning Song”. Her personal memories are hidden in metaphors of parenthood in her poetry. Soon the infants arrives in an ungrateful world. Shortly after Plath gave birth to her children she wrote a new poem. This poem was hard for people to understand because her words seemed to scream depressed. It is called "A Life" and is about a woman in the hospital (after a suicide attempt) staring at a painting and wondering what the painting meant. She comments that real life is more "frank" and
