Electric Cars Arguments

Electric cars are more “environmentally problematic” than they are worth(Zehner) because of their high cost and maintenance. This is the counter-argument to the actual facts about electric cars. In fact, the results would be the complete opposite of the truth. Electric cars are slowly taking control of the market. Slowly, due to the cost to make and sell these vehicles. Electric vehicles cost a lot to make the giant battery that runs the car “replacement battery pack for GM’s Chevrolet Bolt is priced at more than $15,700”(Mark Harris). Companies also would have to make charging stations that are as frequent as gas stations if automotive dealers of electric cars are going to become a much more common mode of transportation if we all were to …show more content…

While being a little more expensive than that of a bus fare, these electric vehicles are just as good if not better. A counterclaim would state that an electric car is not as reliable as a gas car because, unlike the gas stations, there are no charging stations at every exit of the interstate. It is true that it is easier to just stop and get gas. But, it is not impossible to charge the car on a long road trip, There are charging stations all across the U.S. in about thirty states with about 8,817 individual electric stations and 21,752 charging outlets which will continue to increase as long as the amount of electric vehicles begin to increase. Now a long trip would need careful planning, but the electric car would make it and as they become more popular it will become easier to use for long trips. Off of one charge on a battery, most cars can go between one hundred thirty one hundred seventy miles. That is plenty of distance from a town in voyages and across state explorations. Speed admirers are completely against electric cars when they put a turbo in a car and make it zip down the road at 180 miles an hour. Now, these electric cars have a low top sleep no doubt, but what most don't know is that with a high torque engine due to the amount of power needed to move the giant battery, these cars can go from 0-60Mph in about “3.7 seconds” (Greenstone). That’s near as fast as a 2015 Chevy Corvette Zo6 with a “2.9 second 0-60” (Chevy) meaning it was faster than most common cars while still being completely powered by electricity making it very impressive for an electric based vehicle illustrating its efficiency and ability to maintain to its competing gas based vehicles. Now, as engineers make these cars more compact in the battery there won't be a single gas engine that could hope to hold up with the electric engine. Now the cars aren’t limited to the puny smart car. The electric car comes in
