Elie Wiesel is a survivor of the Holocaust. He wrote “Why I Write: Making No Become Yes” to explain why he feels the need to share what he experienced during the harsh time period. First he says “But for the survivor, writing is not a profession, but an occupation, a duty”. In this sentence it shows how he is not doing this for fun or entertainment, but more so for the people that he saw die, and all the people he lost. He feels that the reason he survived was to write about what happened and to show other people what they went through. Secondly, “And if I write, it is to warn the reader that he will not understand either”. This quote makes me think that he can only explain so much to use and there is so much more that we will never know or
