I don 't think George Ellsworth from the article, "Act Of A Hero" is a hero considering that during the story he didn’t complete all the steps of the hero cycle. In the article he didn’t have a trial which is a set of challenges to test a leader or did he have a change in personality which is where the leader and the group worked together to escape. He also didn’t have a final challenge which, therefore classifies him as not a hero. In the book “Dawn” written by Eli Wiesel, the main character is called Elisha, an eighteen year old orphan who had joined a group of terrorist known as The Movement, which has captured an English Officer by the name, John Dawson. The Movement is retaliating because the English have captured David ben Moshe, one of their members and have sentenced him to die. In retaliation, they warn the English that their officer will be killed if they continue with their plan. As the story continues Elisha tries to deal with conflicting thoughts about his first face to face murder. In his mind, he struggles with guilt in going against his moral values instilled by his parents and Master.

To be considered a hero a person must do a courageous act or multiple acts for the purpose of helping another. In the story “Anthem” by Ayn Rand our main character, Equality 7-2521 would be considered a hero because of his actions and the journey he goes on.
