Alaina Hodges Mrs. Doerr 7th Grade ELA 19 March 2024 Elvis Presley “Presley’s biggest selling single, spending a record-setting 11 weeks at number one in 1956 – a record which stood for 36 years.” This song was none other than “Hound Dog” (Susan Pennington et al., 2024). This is a fine example of how absolutely amazing Elvis Presley was. He held a number one record for 11 weeks and 36 nobody could beat that (Funk). Elvis used to go to the Church of Music (Funk). Elvis died a very embarrassing death on the toilet trying to have a bowel movement. The strain of it all caused Elvis to die of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, also known as a heart attack. “Like so many rock stars, including Michael Jackson and Prince, Elvis employed an all-too-willing physician to feed his addiction and hasten his death” (Markle). This quote is an example of how doctors of celebrities feed the addiction thinking that is helping but it only gave them a shortened life (Markle). Ultimately, Elvis Presley died very old and bloated and just wasn’t quite the same man he was at the beginning of his career. Elvis died at the young age of 42 and his death was pronounced at 3:30 p.m. Many people important to Elvis did not want other people to find out the truth about Elvis’s death. Many people in Elvis’s life worry that if the cause of Elvis’s death goes away it could ruin his reputation forever.
