Presley’s actions and motions were seen as “‘a strip-tease with clothes on” or “sexual self-gratification on stage.”’ Presley was said to represent sexual liberation, which resulted in a lot of criticism and led to some people in society harshly judging Presley on his talent. Although there were many who harshly criticized Presley for his performance, it could not affect his impact on the culture, and his obvious talent.

Presley continued to perform after battling pneumonia, pleurisy, hepatitis, and an enlarged colon, and an overdose on prescription drugs led his heart to stop. Presley had a lot of pressure from his management and fans. He was one of the first celebrities that had such star power, and was demanding for Presley to handle. He was the biggest celebrity at the time, and during that time, his popularity was something no one has ever experienced before or even seen.
