This is my letter to the world was a poem written by Emily Dickinson. Emily was born in Amherst Massachusetts in 1930. She was a very secluded person and rarely left her home. While visitors were far and between. None of Emily Dickinson poem was published while alive. Her poems didn't get discovered until after death. There were over 1800 poems found. "This is my letter to the world" (Dickinson 1862, p.591) was a poem written as a message. She telling her story to the world. Dickinson is telling the readers even though she can't see their "hands" (Dickinson 1862, p.591) that it's still possible for future readers. Where the message is entrusted to hands she cannot see. The "hands" (Dickinson 1862, p.591) are a form of an image rather she can see them or not; she believes them to be. Now for the last two lines 7-8. She pleading to the sweet countrymen for the love of her. Emily is asking the world; the people such as the countrymen to listen to what natures told her. Dickinson says "Judge tenderly of me" (Dickinson 1862, p.591). She's asking the readers to think about what being told and show mercy. Emily feeling toward the world believes natures has told me something with the feeling of tender majesty. Please don't judge me harshly because of what I have written. There is so much pity in what Emily asking the countrymen to not judge. While I believe she felt one with nature and how it made her feel. She was very sheltered and only had the comfort of her home to provide her what the world
