The different emotions and mental health problems shown throughout books help us understand the story a little better and bring out the tone and mood more. The play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare tells us about two families who are supposed to be enemies, but then Romeo and Juliet the family children fall in love. Since their families are in a century-long feud their love will never work out and they both end up dying trying to be together. The novel Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson is a story about Melinda, a teenage girl, who just started high school in a way she hadn't expected. She had a normal life the year before until she got raped at a party and told no one about it so her life flipped around. Now she’s starting high school with the wrong everything, no friends, and very depressed because of it. The different types of mental health issues and emotions of the characters shown throughout these stories affect the relationships and how the rest of the story plays out. …show more content…

The piece states, “Should I speak badly of my own husband? Ah, my poor husband, who will speak well of you when I, your wife of three hours, have been calling you such dreadful names? But why, you villain, did you kill my cousin? Because my villain of a cousin would have killed you, my husband.” This quote tells us how Juliet is fighting herself on who to be mad at Romeo or Tybalt. Her change in emotion throughout this whole scene affects the relationship between Romeo, Tybalt, and Nurse. She changes how she feels about them while trying to take in this horrible situation and figure out where everyone is coming from. Having all these mixed emotions on how to feel made her understand where Romeo was coming from by killing Tybalt since Tybalt was going to kill
