In our lives, there are often behaviors and actions that have a negative impact on ourselves. There needs to be a change occasionally to make your life better; this change can bring about positive outcomes for yourself and the people around you. This empathy exercise provided me the opportunity to reflect on myself and think about one difference that I could accomplish in five weeks; this variation would not only assist in my life but make things better for my health. During that time that I cheated, I did rationalize the struggle because I thought that I need this and I was in a hurry at the time, this was done a couple of times during the empathy exercise of quitting eating fast food. When it comes to sure people like addicts who are deciding to change their lifestyle for the better and stop specific behaviors, there will be times where they will struggle as I did for the empathy exercise. Not every recovery process for the addict will go smoothly, it all deals with their resilience and pushing themselves to content on their goal of recovery. This exercise provided a lot of self-talk, reminding myself about the purpose and how to maintain it to better my health. The self-talk aspect accused through this exercise and kept me motivated into what I was taking part in this excise; this assisted in keeping myself busy and making different kinds of food at home and cutting out soda. In the past, I drank pop a lot; I didn’t realize the effect it had on my health. I would say that cutting soda off entirely for this exercise was tough because that was something I consumed about pretty much every single day in my life, I would have it at work and going out with friends. This excise brought about many motivations for striving towards my goal of not eating fast food and soda, this includes the health benefits and saving money in the process.
