Today, we have a special guest on Vibe. Marshall Bruce Mathers III, better known as Eminem who was born on October 17, 1972 in Detroit, Michigan. Throughout Eminem’s rapping career, more than seventy million album copies were sold and the young artist soon became the highest selling musicians and the highest selling rap artists around the world. However, in order for Eminem to become who he really is today, he had to overcome many obstacles. Since music was his destiny, Eminem has realized that the way he can fulfill his dream of rapping was to leave his dark past behind, and change his identity and the way he looked. Growing up and representing whiteness in a black neighborhood and being the only white in school were all important factors that led Eminem to change himself, his name, and using the language he uses in his songs today. He inspires millions of people with the certain language he uses and proves that during hard times, it is possible to uprise and change the way you look at things. I was doing mischief all the time. I could not control myself. Because of my Slim Shady identity, I have released a song called “I’m Shady” that would reflect what I was doing back then and who I was. I mostly rapped about drugs, the bad influences of people, and the bad experiences. If we compare my language to my new songs today, there is a significant difference. Today, my songs are more uplifting and empowering. My language helps other people in doubt. Because I rap in a different manner than I used to, I feel that I have changed as a person.
