Joe Foss has great responsibility because, he always knew what he needed to be done. He was always thinking one step ahead then what was planned. Tom Brokaw wrote a book called The Greatest Generation, about all the war heroes that took place in WWII; one of them mainly being Joe Foss. Joe Foss was always trying to do something and once said, “Combat is dangerous. It tends to interrupt your breathing process”.
Have you ever thought about how much politics are involved in our lives? Or have you ever thought about how much we look up to public figures? Public figures have a huge influence on our lives, and they are now being told that they shouldn’t have the right protest standing during the national anthem because the national anthem represents the power and conquest of our country. I believe that not standing for the national anthem is disrespectful not only to our country, but to the men defending our country.

The army has been focusing on developing soldiers into leaders and making leaders effective leaders. The Army has dedicated so much time to developing leaders that there is an entire ADP just to help leaders. ADP 6-22 covers everything you need to know about developing your leadership skills. Army Regulation 600-100 Army Profession and Leadership Policy define leader development as the deliberate, continuous, sequential, and progressive process, grounded in Army Values, that grows Soldiers and civilians into competent and confident leaders capable of decisive action. The goal is to have Army leaders who have purpose, direction, motivation, and vision for their teams while executing missions.
Leaders need to train, educate, and mentor Soldiers. Using the leadership-training model, leaders can over time support the overall mission. Leaders use the operational domain by training, along with experience and education. The institutional domain starts with military and civilian education. Experience and training work together simultaneously.
The phrase, “The average man does not want to be free. He simply wants to be safe”, by H.L. Mencken, an American essayist and social critic, is an accurate and agreeable statement. What Mencken is trying to say here is that people in this society don’t really look for freedom to do whatever they want, instead they look for the feeling of safety because without safety you can’t live life to the fullest. What is freedom if you don’t feel safe? Mencken’s quote emphasizes the true meaning of safety and gets you thinking about what it would be life if we didn’t have that.
The speaker of “Let us Continue,” Lyndon Baines Johnson very effectively portrayed his main idea with his intended purpose. The main purpose of this speech is that Johnson believes America should keep moving forward and stay strong to make new advancements in our country. The speaker is very passionate about what he is speaking on and he is motivated to continue the work that John F. Kennedy started. The speaker says, “No words are strong enough to express our determination to continue the forward thrust of America that he began.”

Following the Emancipation Proclamation in which all slaves were legally set free came the multitude of underlying ways to continue discrimination and oppression of minority groups like the Jim Crow laws. This discrimination and oppression many groups faced went on for years without seeing the slightest change, that was until the Civil Rights Movement of 1965 in which the first major stance to bring equality had caught fire. Even today, we see protests that aim to bring about the equality everyone deserves, like the BLM. Canadian Philosopher Matshona Dhliwayo once stated, “The real power of a leader is in the number of minds he can reach, hearts he can touch, souls he can move, and lives he can change.” As a leader, especially a leader of Soldiers, it is critical to understand your subordinates. There are instances where you will lead diverse groups, and your method of approach to a situation can contradict the values and morals of a different person. If you decide to not recognize and accept these different beliefs, then it can be very dangerous, as people will decide not to follow you. Instead, if you accept these beliefs, not only will you being getting a greater understanding of different beliefs, but you have the capability to inspire, motivate, and earn the trust of your subordinates.

Lake Country Playhouse LCP, a commonly used toponym for Lake Country Playhouse, is nestled among a concentration of small businesses. Being the only theater in a small town with a very lively community, LCP has an abundance of connections to local newspapers, theater lovers, and critics. Well earned reviews rave year after year and play after play at LCP. The Lake Country Playhouse has created a sort of thespian culture in my area, I’m fortuitous as to have been a part of it for so long.

This points to the fact that exercises in self-development and discipline were key to building leadership qualities. Leaders as mentioned before are role-models in society and when those leadership qualities are nurtured, the society as a whole benefits from them.
