English 105 Reflection

English 105 has been a pretty interesting class so far this semester. Recently all of the students were assigned the unexpectedly difficult task of creating a resource guide for incoming freshmen in their selected majors. Thinking about this project in my head, it seemed relatively easy but when it finally came time to create my rough draft, I realized it was more complex than I initially thought. There is so much I did not know coming into Howard and though it felt exciting to learn the area and meet the people, there were some misconceptions and unexplained information that did hurt my overall experience as a freshman. Trying to organize what information to share and decide what parts to include was a very difficult task for me.
Admittedly, I started working on the more intrinsic parts of my guide close to the deadline for the rough draft and because of this there were some key weakness I noted. My use of color and pictures provides a more visible connection to the journals and articles I referenced in the guide. I think my friendly tone in certain sections of my guide makes the text more understandable and easy to read. One last thing I believe is working well, is the inclusion of section introductions that explain the forthcoming information. I have a lot of work to do in order to finish my resource guide and make it a cohesive and clear piece of writing. I think I am on the the correct path towards completion, I simply need to devote more time to the longer sections of my draft and edit some of the paragraphs in the resource guide. Overall I am excited about the future of this assignment and I look forward to creating a guide that I can eventually hand out to incoming
