Personally, I thought the book was a good read, it was an interesting read. I have never read a book like this before, so it was a nice change. The character Gilgamesh had character development throughout the story. He went from being full of himself to knowing that he needs to leave a destiny behind, so he has to do right by his people. He meets his “brother” Enkidu and he helps with the character development of Gilgamesh because Enkidu believes that his past behaviors were wrong and Gilgamesh changes. Unfortunately, Enkidu dies from an illness that the gods had given him because they killed the bull that was sent down from the sky. Gilgamesh mourns for his loss and his heart is shattered. Through the city Gilgamesh’s immortality will be since the city and its people will live on without him. He knows that he will die and leave behind the city and his people, so he is at peace with his death. Everything will eventually fade, but humankind will always remember him through the city and the buildings. The stories of Gilgamesh will live on, so he comes to terms with his death. He can’t escape death, so he just has to come to peace with it. Since Gilgamesh is human he will die and can’t fight it no matter how hard he tries. These conclusions are made clearly by the end of the book because Gilgamesh understands his fate and explains it to his audience. The aims the author made line up the conclusions done by Gilgamesh because he knows the fate and the audience understands why he must die. The book does have a good ending because it helps you form that Gilgamesh was never going to live forever and that wasn’t his destiny that he kept fighting for. He wasn’t a God and never would be even with the strength and godlike features he had. He was human, so he was going to die since humans don’t live forever. He fought his fate and came to realize death is inevitable. The life he left behind was enough to keep him immortal for a long
