Enlightened absolute monarch is a ruler who was inspired or influenced by the enlightenment era. An example of a ruler who would be in an absolute monarch is a King or Queen that rules an empire. Specifically they would be influenced by several famous philosophers. These would include: John Locke and Voltaire. They would be influenced by their way of thinking and their philosophies. These rulers would agree with or extremely like the ideas presented by the enlightenment thinkers/philosophers. Some specific things that they might agree with is improving their country or improving and creating better education. They might agree with modernizing their country. I believe that the ruler knows and is aware of what issues are currently going on and takes action on things. She ruled in Russia in the 1700's. She was an intelligent woman and she was well educated. One example of why I believe she is part of an enlightened absolute monarch is because she reorganized/reformed Russia. She reformed their law and government. I believe she created/formed a civil bureaucracy. Another example would be that she liked literature and at one point she created a school system. The last examples would be that she encouraged religious tolerance and modernization of Russia. She was a successful
