Enrique's Journey Sparknotes

Many children from Central America have migrated to the United States but have been deported back to their country or killed by gang members during their their journey. Sonia Nazario, author of "Enrique's Journey" and "The Children of the Drug Wars: A Refugee Crisis, Not an Immigration Crisis," mostly talk about the lives of migrant children and the tragedy of their homeland. "Enrique's Journey" is about Enrique and his journey to reunite with his mother and Enrique is traveling on a train but faces challenges and problems during his journey. "The Children of the Drug Wars: A Refugee Crisis, Not an Immigration Crisis" is about Sonia Nazario giving her opinion about helping the children that are in danger and trying to get them safe from violence

This biography is mostly about survival and one of the conflicts that Enrique face is person versus nature. According to Nazario, "Enrique was in pain due to the heat of the environment around him, which eventually lead to him to have little energy and with little energy he tries to get some shade" (1). Another conflict that Enrique face was person versus society. According to Nazario, "Due to the decision that Enrique's friends gave him, he lost his friends and was later beaten up by six men on top of the train due to his friends being the only protection he had"

In "Enrique's Journey," Enrique tries to survive on the train, meanwhile in "The Children of the Drug Wars: A Refugee Crisis, Not an Immigration Crisis," children are in danger and are trying to get somewhere safe from the violence of their country. According to Nazario, "Due to six men beating Enrique up on top of the train, he is always alert and afraid of who gets on the train" (2). In the article, "The High Commissioner interviewed children from Central America who arrived in the United States and most of those children are escaping from violence" (Nazario 1). The difference from the editorial and the biography is that the editorial is a call to action to help migrant children from danger and violence of their country, while the biography is about the point of view of a migrant person and to spread awareness about what happens to migrants during their journey to a safe place and what happens to them. For instance, "Nazario states that migrant children must be recognized as a refugee crisis, due to them being forced to sell drugs by narcos" (1). According to the biography, "Migrants wonder why haven't authorities done anything to stop gangsters beating up migrants and stealing from them, but due to one of the migrants reporting the incidence, he was later found beaten up and since then migrants haven't reported anything to the authorities" (Nazario
