As my cabin and I run down the path leading to the waterfront we hear the bugle blow informing us that we are now late. Skidding to a stop behind the other cabins we bend over trying to catch our breath. “Well now that a certain cabin has finally arrived,” Showered, the waterfront director, announces with a glare at us, “ I can take attendance of what cabins are here.” About halfway through the calling of the 12 senior cabins Showered calls our cabin and we answer with halfhearted yelling, still a bit out of breath from running down to waterfront. After what seems like forever, but in reality was probably only 5 minutes, Showered calls Chapin’s outside area fish and I hurry to the front pushing past people. “Okay guys today we’re going to do diving,” Chapin announces, “Now go do your laps so we can get started.” Groaning we all run out into the water and start swimming. There are so many people swimming laps that it is impossible to do it without accidentally hitting someone. I feel like a fish flopping around on top of all the other fish. Not wanting to be the one person who fails their swim class I take deep breaths and try to calm my racing heart. I think to myself you can do this, you are five years older and you can conquer your fear. With a deep breath I jump forward and pull my arms over my head.
