“Another A+ report. You truly are the backbone of the family, my daughter”, my strict mother Erina strained.
“Just the two of us have already formed a joyful, loving family” Erina further stated.
I could only stare at Erina’s beautiful smile towards my older sister Taya through the clear pane of the mullioned glass window as I stepped outside to eat my cold bread, alone in the illuminated night, with shed tears dripping down my already wet face.
Everything Taya accomplished within her years of high school was the embodiment of a talented human being. She excelled in academics, especially in visual arts, receiving multiple awards whereas I constantly received above average grades.

This transparency of the coloured pigments created flaws on the palette of colours I was allowed to use and the dark outlines negated the power of the neutral colour of white without accentuating the extensive value of the acrylic painting.
Even though I produced numerous poor paintings, Taya decided that one of my paintings was of significant worth to hang on the wooden wall of her spacious room.
The small painting was a distorted image of Taya, an inquisitive, intellectual angel and me, just a tranquil shadow slowly fading away within the family, with my body being lovingly comforted in Taya’s warm, protective arms.
However, Erina didn’t think very highly of my simple painting. She bluntly critiqued my unsophisticated painting as “rough with flat tones” and “too much negative space” lacking deep expression in addition to being shallow in depth, calling it a “child’s painting” that was as cheap as a one dollar chocolate
