Hairs The vinett, Hairs, reveals a lot about Esperanza and her family. It reveals that Esperanza is rebellious and disobedient,“It [Esperanza’s hair] never obeys barrettes or bands”. Papa’s hair is “like a broom”, which reveals that he is not useful for much, except basic household chores. Although, America was said to have streets paved with gold, even though when the people seeking freedom came here, they faced unemployment and suffered. I think this because, the box looks dull and broken, but when opened, it is beautiful. Also, Esperanza judged the box before after just glimpse, and then pretended that she didn 't care about it after realising that it was much more than an old, boring box.
