The important ideas about Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury are the effects the TBI has on a child throughout their lifespan and how it can hinder their performance in different environments. I learned that when a child receives a Traumatic Brain Injury there is a greater effect of long-term developmental, social, and cognitive challenges. Challenges that arise could be maintaining social relationships and problems with memory. The TBI effected is an organ that is still developing, and new challenges are faced after that child becomes an adult. Different areas that a child may be struggling with are often just overlooked in all environments. Knowing about the different areas that are affected in cognitive communication such as memory, attention, problem-solving and organization would allow me base therapy and figure out what is best to treat my client. Knowing that not all the issues in cognitive communication emerge right after the brain injury will allow me to be ready knowing that there will be other issues that come up later down the road as the child is getting older. Referring out is very important for the child because they need to receive the appropriate serves because maybe medication is needed, or even other things such as occupational therapy or even physical therapy. If the child receives the most appropriate services to aid in recovery, then it will make a huge difference. Knowing what to do and who to contact is they key and knowing little details and how TBI effects the client will allow me the quickly identify the problem now rather than finding it years down the
