Recently, there was a student who stated "I don't care about slavery. That happened a long time ago, and I don't want to think about it in my life today. It is no longer important." The opinion shocked me when I read this opinion. When they said this was unimportant, I immediately disagreed with the student’s opinion. I believe that slavery is important, and it caused a huge impact. It was a very important part of our history along with other countries. In the United States, there was slavery since around the founding of the country.
