The idea of having a president started since the year 1732. Ever since George Washington became the 1st president of the United States the government has made sure that after every presidents’ term is over then, someone else would get elected. Having a president is very important because there are high populations of people that depend on the president. If there was not a president ever in the American history then, America would be a chaos and people would most likely behave in a manner that is not safe or proper. A president is needed so he can be the leader of all of the presidents. The presidents’ job is to keep citizens safe in America and to make sure that all of the children that are in the United States get their education so that America can be a great country with good citizens. Being a president has advantages and disadvantages. A few of the advantages of being a president is that presidents have a lot of power to make certain decisions that he thinks is the best for the United States. The president has the power to make treaties. The president also has a form of legislative power that he can use to veto laws that were passed by the congress. Another advantage of being a president is that he also has the power to grant pardon to those people that are in jail. The president also has the control of the military and he is the commander and chief of the military. The greatest advantage that the president has is that he can propose laws. A few of the disadvantages of being a president is that presidents are responsible of what occurs in the United States, and every time the president makes a decision he has to think about every person because any decision he makes affects everyone living in the United
