In every aspect and walk of life, there comes a time when you need to make an impact on people, to influence them and make them excited about your ideas. From direct sales, advertisements to interviews, the role of how you influence or persuade another person are profound. It’s a skill that must be learned and acquired through practice and patience because the rules of persuasion that might be applicable in one scenario maybe do not be work in the next. The technique of influencing has a lot to do with what kind of situation you are in. Learning the basic set of rules would make you equipped enough to mold them according to each scenario. Be a good listener: To be a good listener is one of the greatest abilities you can have. It doesn’t matter what role you play as a listener a parent’s, teacher’s or a friend. If you want to be good at conversation and desire people to enjoy your company, you would have to be an observant and attentive to the thing people say. To make others interested in you, first you have to be interested in them. Invest your time in a person and they would return the favor. Talk to people about their dreams and things they feel passionate about. Encourage other to talk about openly about them. There is nothing more addictive than someone who listens to you.
The basic art of persuasion lies in showing respect for other person’s opinions. Don’t criticize them by saying they are ‘wrong’. Talk to them in a friendly way appreciate them for their good work and gently tell them how something less might work better for them. Try to see things from others perspective and be genuine with your feedback. Once you get them to your side dramatize your idea and make them believe it was their idea all
