Aunt Alexandra tries to say something to Atticus about the kids and doing something wrong. “Sister, I do the best I can with them! It had something to do with my overalls.”(Lee 108). Aunt Alexandra was trying to tell Atticus to make Scout change into something more lady like. Their aunt never can understand what it is like raising a child being a single parent. Francis did not necessarily know what was happening but he went straight to assuming about Atticus and called him that to scout. Scout did not understand what he was saying but she didn’t like the fact that even family was being rude and talking down on Atticus in his decision when what they don’t know why he is doing it. Atticus is already under enough pressure but to have his family start to tell him things about his kids only makes things worse. “Right, but do you think I could face my children otherwise? You know what 's going to happen as well as I do..”(Lee 117). Atticus’ family is worried about him taking on the case with his kids but Atticus has raised them to always do the right thing so for him to not he feels it is not right. He is a man to stick by his word no matter what so even if his family is all against him doing it. He feels that he won’t be able to raise him the right way if he doesn’t follow through to his word. Although he may get called names and be looked down on for his decisions he never lets them change who he is and who his kids grow up
