The feeling of fulfillment and reassurance that is gained when successfully helping someone out with their problems or struggles is a great thing. Not only does it help with others' problems, but it also helps with an increase in well-being and self-esteem. There are a multitude of ways to help others, including certain jobs. I like the idea of being able to help and provide for others. With that being said, I’ve chosen Athletic Trainer, Firefighter, and Homicide investigator as a couple of jobs to talk about. Not only will these jobs be ways to help and provide for people but they’ll also be interesting and exciting occupations. A homicide detective will, “ Begin at the crime scene, work alongside CSI’s (crime scene investigators), analyze relevant evidence provided by CSI’s, spend a lot of time interviewing suspects and people with knowledge of what happened” (How to Become a Homicide Detective: Steps and Skills). There are pros and cons to this job but more pros outweigh the cons. Pros and Cons of Being a Detective (Plus Helpful Tips) states that, “You’ll have great job security, the earnings can be extremely good, and a multitude of significant benefits”. Yet, “ It can take a little while to become a detective, the job environment can be rough at times, and there is a mandatory retirement age”. Education wise you’ll want a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice to move up the ladder, you’ll have to attend the Police Academy, and you’ll have on the job training. How to Become a Homicide Detective: Steps and Skills mentions that, “You should have critical thinking, written communication, and oral communication skills. Along with ethical behavior, be able to have attention to detail, and understand human behavior and psychology. The median annual salary of a homicide investigator in 2020 was $67,290.
