The Industrial revolution
Would you want your children to work in factories at the age as young at 10. The work conditions included long hours, little pay, horrible conditions and the worst thing is that a lot of the factory workers were children and women. The industrial revolution brought many good things to society; but as an effect of that, work conditions suffered.
Children as young as six years old during the industrial revolution worked hard hours for little or no pay. Children sometimes worked 19 hour work days with a 1 hour break; but that was a long day, a normal day was 12-14 hours without a break. “Not only were these children subject to long hours, but also, they were in horrible conditions”. Children that worked in factories got neglected and abused if they messed up or did even the slightest thing wrong. “The treatment of children in factories was often cruel and unusual, and the children's safety was generally neglected”. The treatment of children during the industrial revolution was not worth it because many of the children ended up getting sick or just malnourished from th neglect. Child labor was the worst thing to happen during the industrial revolution.
While the industrial revolution introduced new jobs for women it also brought new dangers. Most women worked out of necessity to survive instead of choice. “Working was a matter of surviving. This was especially true for single women.” If a woman didnt work they might not eat if they weren't in a working class family. Working was a matter of survival not for money.
The woman who lived in working class families had much better lives than those who didn't. A women in a working class family got to work jobs like a cook or maid instead of factories and mines. “Women could parent and also play a role in producing food or goods needed for the household.” Also some women even gotta not work at all due to their husbands income. As a conclusion only a small amount of women had lives outside of work during the industrial
