Going to college is worth the cost because a higher education will get you a better career with higher salaries, teach you freedom with unique experiences, and will give you work related skills and knowledge as well as help you grow mentally and prepare yourself for the future.
According to research, having a college degree will find you a better job with higher salaries and college graduates are “far less likely to be unemployed” than non-graduates (Leonhardt). A study by Anthony Carnevale shows that attending college and receiving a degree will be more beneficial than not attending, “even when a degree is not crucial,” (Leonhardt). Even if you are planning on having a career that a degree is not necessary, you should still go to college. A bachelor’s degree will pay off for jobs that won’t require a degree but will have a higher salary rate than without a degree. Many students and parents think college is not necessary and not worth the cost, but some financial aid qualifying families say many colleges are not very expensive. The average tuition fees at a public four-year college, after financial aid is taken into account, were about $2,000 last year (leonhardt). Although people may argue that a liberal arts education may not be good for much, Roth argues that any higher education can be crucial when developing leadership and artistic skills (Roth). What people don’t know about liberal learning is that it gives you far more knowledge in arts, the kind that will be useful resources to continue learning about making future decisions to change the world (Roth). The people who pursue an education in liberal arts are the ones that “become innovators, and productive risk takers” when “reconfigure[ing] existing resources”
