The Cost Of College: Is It Worth It? As generations continue to graduate from high school, many face the difficult choice between seeking higher education and furthering themselves in other areas. To make this decision more difficult, those who have already graduated from college claim they struggle for employment. These rising unemployment rates have led to questioning of the worth of college education. Many wonder if the high price of college is not reaping substantial benefits, why should it be considered an option? To these people, high unemployment rates are just the beginning of a long line of consequences. Source A explains how the world as we know it is built around working with your hands. The author believes that many students are sent off to college “against their own inclinations” and that “schools are artificial learning environments.” By sticking young adults into these superficial environments that are not based on the real world, they do not become prepared for life and how the world really works. Students who ultimately make the choice of a higher education are put into a paper and pen classroom. With this high cost of colleges, however, the learning environment should reflect the hands-on world that we live in.
