Explain Why I Decide To Enroll In Higher Education Essay

There is a considerable amount of information on the World Wide Web, and in books, which substantiates the reality that an individual who enrolls and completes a college degree is more sought-after by organizations. Organizations, too, are encouraging education practicality by offering tuition assistance or reimbursement and changing job requirements to state that a bachelor’s degree is required. Reasons why individuals decide to enroll in higher education are numerous from being the first generation to go to college to feelings of self-worth and accomplishment. Each year graduates flood the world of work in search of positions in their major. These individuals realize, unfortunately, that the competition is fierce and end up accepting jobs just to be able to pay for the enormous student loans. My topic will discuss transition into the world of work, the process of prepping, preparation and moving into a career and not a job.

What the reports doesn’t tell the student, is that there is a process of prepping, preparing and moving into a career and not a job. This process helps the student transition into the world of work that gets them closer to a career versus a job. Based on my career as a Human Resources professional, I believe that the steps of the process are as follows: (1) think about where the student wants to end; (2) create SMART goals; (3) associate with people who are where they want to be; and, (4) get their head in the game to think outside-of-the-box to make a customized career
