Artifact Description This artifact was created for and with a student to aid her in making connections between education and careers. I was to create a student portfolio to help a student with college admission, career interests, and scholarship applications. During this process, the student and I worked with her teachers, her mother, and Oklahoma State University. We all collaborated to provide the student with information she will need to develop an academic and career plan (AR.1.5, AR. 1.8, AR.3.5, and AR.8.3). While I made an electronic portfolio for my class, the student I was working with received a physical copy which she used to help her navigate the college admission and scholarship process.

Creating this student college career portfolio required that I have a firm understanding of career theories and models. I was able to involve the student with personality, career and interest inventories, which helped her refine her college search. It is vital that the student sees the connection with her strengths, personality, and family influences on her education and choices for post-secondary plans (AR 3.3, AR 3.5 and AR 3.6). Working through this process required that I have a familiarity and knowledge of current career theories and models (AR 3.2). The student and I had to navigate course requirements necessary to be accepted into college, but could do the same for vocational training, an apprenticeship or the military (AR 3.5). It will be necessary for me to aid my students in understanding and implementing career planning strategies. Once a student decides on a career interest path, I can help students navigate course requirements necessary to be accepted into vocational training or college either 2 or 4-year institutions. I should also be able to advise students about extracurricular activities, internships, and volunteer pursuits that will increase their chances to be admitted to college/vocational technical school and possibly receive scholarships, and what ACT/SAT scores and GPA are required. I will aid my students in setting up a deadline calendar so that the necessary forms will be submitted by the required date (AR
