As an adolescent, majority of the time spent in car rides was to listen to Cuban music. Genres ranged from merengue to disco but in the end it was always sung in spanish. Eventually when american culture started to inspired my family, the popular music of rap and hip hop caught my attention with the it's understandable lyricism and word play that wasn't comprehensive in relation to the Cuban heritage that I was accustomed to. To this day, rap and hip hop stay my favorites to listen to. With R&B and alternative genres also growing in my liking, I feel like all types and variety of music is enjoyable. I listen to gospel, classical, latin, anything besides country.

Thanks to technology, these days producers and composers have a diverse variety of sounds to create art with. Lately, beats and melodies have affected me greater than lyrics due to their nature. Without the instruments and sound in the background then the song is incomplete. It becomes a separate musical genre of acapella. I often have music on wherever my day takes me. From the music alarm i wake up to, to the speakers I blast shower before bed. There is constant all day and I prefer to listen to an instrumental than acapella.

The particular music that has change my concept of music goes to Flower Boy an album created by Tyler Gregory Okonma (better known by his stage name Tyler, the Creator). I was never a huge fan of his because of the image he held but after hearing the most popular song before the album's release, my attentions slowly wrapped around Tyler’s incentive.
