1992 was one of the worst times in the twentieth century to be a citizen of Bosnia. Bosnia turned from a sophisticated society to one ravaged by animalistic nature and the most immoral acts against humanity overnight. Just what happened in Bosnia in 1992? What were the reasons for the Serbs to treat the citizens so poorly? Serbs were showing Bosnians what the rawest form of human nature was, and it all began from Bosnians wanting to nationalize. Serbs used this to take control of Bosnia and destroy the government. Serbs turned to Animalistic nature in order to achieve these goals. Serbs ignored human decency, and showed the true nature of humans. Serbs showed what it meant to reach the pinnacle of animalistic domination.

In fact, their lack of human decency leaves something to be desired since Bosnia used to be, “a relatively sophisticated place” (p.14). Maybe the Serbs succumbed to human nature? Peter backs this idea when he quotes Andric, “when the call of the wild comes, the bonds of civilization turn out to be surprisingly weak” (p.15). When looking further into the motives of the Serbs, it boils down to one work dominance. For many years, Serbs were the minority in Bosnia, and they were worried that the independence in Bosnia would cause them to cease to exist. Peter exemplifies this when he states, “Serbs, as a minority, would be prosecuted to the point of Genocide” (p.27). It was this fear that drove them to act first before they were the victims. Instead of being the ones to be ethnically cleansed they wanted to be the ones to do the “ethical cleansing” (p.21). On the other hand, this argument can be concluded to represent the human nature of the fight or flight response. Again, human nature brought Bosnians to exert dominance before they were dominated. The flight or fight response beings with intense fear at the time of the Bosnian independence that’s what Serbs felt. Instead of flying, Serbs asserted an intense fight
