The Entertaining History of Foosball
In 1923, an Englishman and a box of matches completely changed the world, and no, he did not burn London to the ground. Those matches were what Harold S. Thornton used to invent the first game of table football,(more formally known as foosball). One day when he was trying to make a prototype, he laid out matches over the box like rods, this is how foosball was born.The progression of foosball commenced with a spark from a box of matches, exploded into a global phenomenon with thousands of tournaments, then dropped out of the record books, landing into countless homes.

Foosball was brought to the United States of America by Louis P. Thornton on November 1, 1927. Louis was the uncle of Harold Searles Thornton, the inventor of the game, and saw it on debut when he went back to visit family in Britain. The first patent in the USA by Louis had very little success and the patent ran out. He was in the U.S. Military, and saw how popular foosball was in Europe so he started manufacturing tables in Bavaria to ship to the USA. patterson's first table arrived in the USA in 1962. While the game has not always been popular in the USA that does not stop people from loving it
