Governor Sam Brownback is a republican Governor that was first apart of the house of representatives, then senator from 1996 until 2011 where he was then elected the Governor of Kansas. In 2010-2011 Brownback was elected for his platform of promising Kansans to cut income taxes which in turn would create a well spring of jobs and economic growth. With this plan he tried to prove a small government or “trickle down economics” would work. Now with this there comes the question whether or not Governor Brownback is good or bad for the people and the state of Kansas. Governor Brownback should not remain the governor of Kansas because of his involvement of the economic downturn of Kansas, the considerably large amount of negative effects that have been put on the public school systems of Kansas, and the taxes and employment problems that affect the people of Kansas. …show more content…

“Kansas’ personal income grew 1.4 percent in the last year — lower than the region’s 2.2 percent rate and the 2.7 percent rate for the United States. And the state was behind in both measurements over the last five years as well” (Abouhalkah). This shows that the people of Kansas are not taking in as much income as their counterparts in the midwest and even the entire country. Like it also says in the quote that Kansas has been behind for the past five years, all of them being under Governor Brownback. “Kansas has lost nearly 4,000 jobs in May, trailing both the national trend and neighboring Missouri, which added 6,600 jobs” (Berman). compared to its neighboring state Missouri it is shown that Kansas lost 4000 jobs under Brownback where Missouri has gained 6600 jobs. Overall one can see that Governor Brownback is bad for the state of Kansas because of the affects that he has put on the people of Kansas, whether it be through taxes or
