The path toward gun control in America
From a rifle obtained for hunting to a pistol handled sport, the people of the United States apply their right to carry firearms. While it might be suitable for Americans to enjoy this hobby, there are some people who want nothing more than uncivil anarchy. Criminals & convicts could be flooding the streets while lunatics could open fire on innocent lives at schools & churches. Although the nation has this privilege, suicides, homicides, and mass-shooting are spreading across the country. The government has done little to stop a background check control by Congress. Gun control is a social problem that can be reduced by banning all high capacity magazines to the general public, except law enforcement & military, requiring a mandatory background check on people purchasing all firearms, and prohibiting all guns to those who are of age 21 & younger.

For example, the government’s buyback program of guns legally purchased has allowed the people to trade in their guns for money (Utter & Spitzer, 2011, p. 125). However, there is still a need for Congress to do more about the gun issue. The problem on gun violence effects both the people of the United States, and the immigrants from foreign countries. In a recent article, Ted Miller, a health financial analyst, stated that, “guns are used in 70% of homicides and more than 50% of suicides in the united states” (Follman, Lurie, & Lee, 2015). Furthermore, firearms roughly kill around 33,000 of its citizens an injure about 80,000 each year (Follman et al., 2015). The nation has seen what firearms can do with little restrictions, so it is in the governments best interest to attain more control over guns.
