Did you know there is worldwide hunger, even in your own community? Some people live without even realizing what is going on in the world. “Not in America” they say. It’s everywhere. There are millions of food insecure households in just America and millions more worldwide. There needs to be actions taken to prevent this from getting worse and to eventually end this needless problem entirely. Although some believe that world hunger is not an issue worth helping, because they think the problem will fix itself, others argue that world hunger is an issue that is worth helping, because many living in poverty can’t afford to buy food and that it causes long term symptoms. “Access to food and other resources is not a matter of availability, but rather of ability to pay”(Copeland 2) With over a billion people worldwide being below the poverty line, they are not able to afford food, especially if they have children. To defeat world hunger, poverty needs to be beat first. With poverty gone, people will be able to buy food and warn off hunger. In Africa, there are over 414 million people living in extreme poverty, not being able to purchase food. With America having over 42 million food insecure households, even we have hunger problems sprouting from multiples reasons like the 45 million americans living in poverty. The relation between food insecure households and poverty are linked by looking at the data with them being similar. Africa and America both have hunger issues that cause a whole other problem.
