A maquiladora is a foreign company in Mexico. They are owned by the U.S Japan and European countries. They have attracted foreign countries because of their tax benefits. The function of a maquiladora is the U.S companies gives them their raw materials for them to assemble and export the finished product. Some of the human rights maquiladoras are that the government fails to help women from discriminatory treatment in export-processing factories (maquiladoras) along the U.S.-Mexico border. some of the maquiladoras mistreat or force women to resign if they became pregnant shortly after being hired. Most of the employees of maquiladoras are young women. Most people’s salary is $7.50 a day is enough to provide for the family dinner table, and water and electricity. There is a lot of damage along the border and it’s a direct result of maquiladoras. Health problems are appearing among the citizens, including higher cancer rates and other diseases are from maquiladoras. The abuse and mistreatment of maquiladora workers is the main problem that they are facing. Even though the Mexican law provides protection for the employees the managers choose to ignore them. The workers earn less than the United State 's minimum wage most workers earn about 3.50 an hour. Industrial accidents and toxic exposures are common in this type of work environment. Workers are not given training or provided with safety equipment. There is a lot of physical risks such as noise, heat, vibrations, poor ventilation. The maquiladoras were suppose improve the quality of life for the Mexican families who couldn’t get jobs.
