In nursing school research is extremely important. While we worked continuous hours in clinicals we came across many different diagnoses. The diagnosis required us to research information and treatments. It is always easy to search the information on google, and get hundreds of websites on where to read about the information. Each website has different types of readers like primary and secondary readers. The websites are different, and include different information.
The two websites seem to aim for students and people in the healthcare. The primary audiences that the websites aim for are more directed towards students, and individuals that are doing research. In the hospital that I work for I have seen different people use these websites. I mostly see nursing students use these websites. The reason why mayo clinic is used is because it gives the students a quick understanding of the disease and treatment. College students also mostly use NCBI website due to the numerous of papers and research that has to be done. Each paper is written based on factual information from professional individuals. Each website is different like mayo clinic it is definitely easier to navigate. Mayo clinic also has different links that you can clinic on to better understand certain items in a diagnosis. NCBI is a bit longer and can seem dreadful to view information, but it gathers information from different professionals, and puts them together as a peer reviewed research documentation. Mayo clinic I feel does a better job at connecting with the audience because they make information pertinent and easy to understand. In NCBI everything seems a bit more complicated mostly like jargon put together. When the audience reviews the information, they may feel discouraged and not want to read the information on the page.
