I like the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice (JHNEBP) model, because it is a powerful problem-solving approach to clinical decision-making, and it has user-friendly tools to guide. According to Zaccagnini & White, “it is designed specifically to meet the needs of the practicing nurse and uses a three-step process called PET: practice question, evidence, and translation” (2015). The goal of this model is to ensure that the latest research findings and best practices are quickly and appropriately incorporated into patient care. Great choice!

The purpose of this posting is to discuss the nurse’s scope of practice. The nursing scope of practice includes the functions, actions, or procedures that nurses can legally perform (American Nurses Association 2010). As a registered nurse (RN), I must know what is within the scope of practice since I work under the direction of a licensed physician (MD) or advanced practice nurse (APN). The MD or APN may place an order that may not be within my scope of practice and performing that task may be harmful to the patient and result in loss of my license. Each state or country has their own definitions of the scope practice which are important to know as well as they may differ.

Evidence-base practice has become very essential and dominant concept in nursing profession due to its following components : research , clinical expertise and experience along with patients perspective and values. As a nurse who holds position as the Outpatient Diabetes Educator I am utilizing every day of my practice the evidence based data in order to improve patients outcomes in diabetes self-management. One of the most crucial aspects of my education program is for diabetic patients to be able to recognize hypoglycemia symptoms and to treat them properly and especially safely. The DCCT study showed that the most effective treatment of hypoglycemia ( blood glucose lower than 70 mg/dl ) is consumption of 15 grams of carbohydrates
Congested heart failure (CHF) is one of the leading causes of death in the United States (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). There have been research studies conducted to provide evidence-based practice in decreasing the effects of CHF. There is evidence that links exercise, diet, and education as key factors that decreases mortality and morbidity in patients with CHF. All healthcare settings can utilize and implement evidence-based practice when caring for patients with CHF. Nurses should promote education about CHF and the benefits of regular exercise and diet (Smart, 2010).
The story of David versus Goliath is a story of a young meek boy that takes down a giant of a man with one a stone. “So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him” (1 Sam 17:50). The lesson to be learn in this passage is that we all have giants to overcome, and that with faith and determination one can take down their giant. Research problem can be defined as “An area where knowledge is needed to advance the practice of nursing” (Nieswiadomy, 2012, p. 324).
Cristobal Silva Research Essay Dr. Kristy 17 Jan. 2017 What is Research? Research is the action of attempting to find out the answer to a certain question. The practice of nursing evolves daily from theories and philosophies that are proven by researchers, resulting in growth of the medical profession and advanced evidence based knowledge. Philosophies According to Alligood (2014b), philosophies are specific theories that focus on one or more metaparadigm concepts in a wide spectrum philosophical way (p. 43). For a person to understand philosophies it is required to understand the knowledge type, metaparadigms. Metaparadigm Metaparadigm is the vast perspective of a discipline and a way to describe a concern specifically to a profession or department (Alligood, 2014b, p.42).
What is Research? It is a careful investigation of a problem in a scientific manner, especially to search for new facts in any side of knowledge. And it is searching for theory or opinion for testing them or for solving issues. And a scientific way for answering questions and testing hypotheses.
Research Research is defined as ‘a diligent and systematic investigation/ inquiry into a subject in order to discover or receive facts, theories and to find answers to a problem etc. Research is done when we want to find something. 2. Qualitative research Design Qualitative research is a method of inquiry employed in many different academic disciplines, traditionally in the social sciences, but also in market research and further contexts. Research is a systematic investigation aimed at the discovery of answers to a problem (Burns, 2000).Research has been conducted for a number of reasons (Adams, Khan and Raeside, 2014). Bornmann (2012) states that researches have impacted on society both positively and negatively. Yet research contribute to science, it is difficult to measure contribution to society (Bornmann, 2012). For health and social care environment, research is a fundamental way of obtaining evidence for the purpose of solving health care problems and considering health issues (Polgar & Thomas, 2013) and discover new knowledge that could lead to changes to health treatments, politicise or care which could be more effective than existing way (NHS, 2017).
