Abstract
America is blessed with an array of natural wonders, and through the national park service act these beauties are being preserved for generations to come. Since 1916, the organic act has been working day in and day out to preserve and regulate national parks while also promoting and controlling traffic to a variety of parks. In spite of the effort, there are still issues surrounding the conservation of these parks. An example would be pollution and climate change caused by emissions from cars, factories, etc. Despite this hindrance, national parks are striving to solve these challenges. Evidence from one article claims, the necessary precautions that are in place to help prevent climate change, and global biodiversity are growing inadequate as these crises increase at a rapid rate (Kirby, 2000, para1). The problem of climate change is growing at an exponential rate, unlike any other issue known to man. Due to the rapid increase in climate change stemming from man-made emissions, many national parks are at a standstill with what they want to do about this problem. The unprecedented change in temperature all across America is not only a problem for plants and animals throughout the national parks, but also for those who maintain and regulate the impressive wonders America holds dear. The unforeseen dilemma of climate change has led to unpredictable, spikes and dips in tourism throughout national parks stretching all across America. The Organic act of 1916 was originally to preserve and promote the parks in a safe manner, but with climate change on the rise, it is unpredictable not only how the wildlife and ecosystem will react, but also how those who frequent national parks might react. One article states, Man-made climate change is having an irreversible impact on beloved national parks all across America; I.E. All across the US various species that would not survive in today's society are at an all time high thanks to the preservation that many of these registrations offer. One article gives an example of these species stated, Many national parks, stretching all across the deserts of North America, preserve plants and wildlife varying from different kinds of cacti, desert trees, shrubs, and wildlife and a variety of Sonoran desert saguaro (“Desert”, 2022, Para. 2). One example stated, the Saguaro cacti, is exclusively found in the southwest parts of North America. It is indigenous to those parts and has thrived there for decades. The Saguaro cactus has an extensive lifespan, and can live up to 150 years. Without the protection of these legislations that have been passed to preserve and conserve the Saguaro cactus, many of these plants' lives would have been cut short due to deforestation and the gentrification of the precious land these cacti reside on. Without the protection of all indigenous plants and wildlife that can be found throughout American national parks, many species cherished to this day would have died off due to the greedy culture embedded in today’s society.
