I am interested in occupational therapy, or OT, because I love the idea of helping people be able to live their lives again. This love was nurtured by my mother who was a nurse. Unfortunately, I have a hard time with blood. This job has less exposure to blood, but still is within the same realms of nursing. Occupational therapy interests me because it is like solving a puzzle. Each patient is different and needs a different plan. This creates a challenge. I also like it because of the flexible hours and good pay.
I have a lot of personality traits that would help me succeed as an occupational therapist. One trait that I possess is that I love to talk and connect with people. I like to form that bond. This would help me with treating patients. Another trait I have is that I like to schedule things and keep things organized. This would help me keep my patients

One part of the job I didn’t realize I had to do was to help to patient find and maintain a job. It makes sense, but I never thought about it. Another surprise was the flexibility of hours and places to work. An OT could work at home, in a hospital, or in a clinic. They also can work full time, part time, or even just have a few patients. I thought it would be a normal nine to five work day. If I could interview someone with this profession, I would ask if they really felt like they made a difference in their patients life, is there a significant difference in working in hospitals versus home clinics, and how do you deal with a patient that doesn’t get better. I think there would be some very good and thought provoking answers.
I like about this assignment was that we had to find the amount of money we would make, and the amount we would have to pay to get an education. I also liked the in depth detail about the jobs we had to learn. If I would change the assignment, I would change the time we had to do it. I would have liked one more
