Oklahoma Bombing of 1995 What we learned from the Oklahoma Bombing of 1995 is that Americans show compassion and love to victims and their families when tragedy strikes. This compassion is a powerful testament to the best things of America. People always come together to support each other when there is a disaster. We need other people to lean on when we are not strong enough to stand on our own. The bombing was on April 19th, 1995. A security guard and ex-Army soldier with the name Timothy McVeigh, parked a Ryder by the entrance to the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. This building was located in downtown Oklahoma City. In the van was a extremely deadly bomb. The bomb was made from “agricultural fertilizer, diesel fuel, and other chemicals.”(“Oklahoma City Bombing,” 2016). McVeigh got out of the truck, and went towards his getaway car. He ignited a fuse connected to the bomb in his van and at 9:02am it went off (“Oklahoma City Bombing,” …show more content…

They also found something scribbled on his business card that read, “TNT @ $5/stick, need more.” The FBI figured out McVeigh’s extreme ideologies and the anger he had at Waco two years before. They uncovered that a friend of his, Terry Nicolas helped him build the bomb. He later turned himself in. Another man; Micheal Fortier, knew about the plan and didn’t do anything to stop it. The bombing was solved quickly but the investigation was long and exhausting for the FBI. “By the time it was over, the Bureau had conducted more than 28,000 interviews, followed some 43,000 investigative leads, amassed three-and-a-half tons of evidence, and reviewed nearly a billion pieces of information.”(“Oklahoma City Bombing,”
