There are so many societal problems to choose from but the most important societal problem today is we are not trying to understand why others think differently from us. We think we must agree but we will not listen to someone else’s beliefs and thoughts. There is no way to find a solution to a problem if we won’t acknowledge others views and listen to what they have to say to better understand the problem. Everyone thinks that we all have to agree on every topic and when we don’t agree we don’t start to try and understand why we think differently. When we don’t try to understand others opinions that is when people start getting offended because we don’t understand why people think what they think so there is no way to have a conversation …show more content…

The problem with the recent shedding of light on this brutality is that so many people get offended so easily. There is no denying that there is police brutality and it goes unpunished a lot because there are evil people in this world and in some instances it is easy to cover up. Sadly there are some cases where the assumption that it is because of the victims’ race is correct because there are people in every profession including our police forces that still hold onto the racist ideas that most let go of by the end of the 20th century. On one side some say that police forces as a whole are evil and they are prejudice while some on the opposite side are ignorant to the fact that there is an existing problem with racial crimes and that people are just overreacting. We need to understand that neither side is 100% right and there are the extremists on either side of any issue. We need to look at the truths on both sides and try to figure out a way to better understand the problem and hopefully fix it but that cannot be done until we start listening to each other and understanding where other peoples beliefs and opinions are coming
