What is a Smart watch?
Although there is not a well-structured definition for a smart watch, but apart from the basic feature of showing time there must be many other features should be present that actually makes the watch smart. Ability to connect through Bluetooth or internet to other devices and run various beneficial applications can be some of such features that should be available in a watch to be considered as a smart watch. Connection to the internet has opened an entirely new world of applications. Currently two types of smart watches are available in the market. First is the one in which it acts as an independent unit and the other in which it is connected to a smart phone for most of its usage. The first category is called standalone watches and the second category watches are generally called as accessory or companion smart watches.

Future of the Smart Watches: It is not only about time
The question that everyone has in their minds is about the future of the smart watches. Whether they would be considered as a substitute for a smart phone or as a complimentary device or it would be treated as a fashion accessory having multiple benefits.
In good old days, watches have to be winded every night just like a mobile phone needs to be recharged every day. However, development of the smart watches and the current need to charge them every day is bringing us back to the same old era. Although the smart watches substitute many features of the smart phone but they can never act as a complete replacement of the same. It is not about bringing the telecom technology from the pocket to the wrist and act as a direct replacement for the smart phone.
