The civil rights movement was a movement started by african american people that wanted the same freedom, religious belief, lifestyle as white people did. They just wanted to have power just like they did and be considered humans an have the same equally right. Without civil rights movement we would today still feel powerless and have no hope in ourselves and our culture. Without the brave people that spoke in front of thousands of African American men and women, we wouldn’t have the courage to start a revolutionary. If they wouldn’t have had the courage and confidence they would've been looked down on till this day. This mark the changed for african american people and how people portray them. This also gave them the power they deserved and should’ve been granted when brought into this world but they were afraid if they spoke out they’ll get lynched or hung or their family would be dead. Now they’ll speak out about anything that bothers them or that is racial profiling against them. It gave them the recognition that they couldn't earn during slavery time. For instance , I didn’t know that the guy that made peanut butter was black, because during the time it was invented he couldn’t come out and said he made peanut butter because nobody would believe him or accept the peanut butter, so he kept quite. They never knew how talented we were in sports or how smart we were
