Railroads are very dangerous, hundreds of people die because they were distracted, being foolish, or accidents. The main steps for acting appropriate around trains, train station, and crossing are different in each situation. While in the car pulling up to the railroad crossing when the arms start to come down and the lights start to flash stop behind the white line and wait for the train to pass, gate arms and the lights turn off before you cross the tracks DO NOT go around the gates at anytime. While approaching the train station before crossing the tracks make sure you take out your headphones and your hood if it is on. Buses and bigger vehicles always stop behind the white line even if the lights are flashing and the gates aren't down, this is a safety rule that is always followed. If the buses or big vehicles cross without stopping can get fined and even lose their job and if it is a transportation bus then it endangers the people on the vehicle not only the driver but all the passengers. While waiting for the train on the train station stand behind the yellow line and make sure anything you are holding is behind it to, because if the train comes by and hits the object in your hands it could take you onto the tracks. On some roads it shares a lane or multiple lanes with cars and trains. When stopping at a light that has a train lane make sure you are over enough so the train doesn't hit your car, also if you are crossing over into the train lane look into your mirrors and blind spots before changing into that lane to make sure a train isn't coming.
