Did you know without the timber industry Washington would most likely fail economically? The timber industry is vital to the survival of Washington State. Without the timber industry there would be a reduced amount of funds for schools in Washington, road funds, fire districts, and a lot more. (ext.nrs.wsu.edu/publications/pdf/forestry/EB-1822.pdf). But there are also downsides to the industry like endangered species lose their homes and other animals do too. There are a lot of laws to be able to harvest forestry, loggers have to go to classes every year to be able to log. The Washington timber industry also provides a lot of jobs to over 107,000 people and 4.5 billion in wages. (www.kettlerange.org/power/ch3.htm). There are many laws to forestry but the main on is the forestry law which relates to all statues and regulation that deal with the preservation of forests and parks, reforestation activities to ensure the sustainability of the nation’s land, and the prevention of illegal logging activities. Another thing in the fifty year plan is to restore and maintain riparian habitat on nonfederal forestlands to support a, heritable supply of fish. The fifty year plan is also there to meet the requirements of the Clean Water Act for nonfederal forest laws and last but not least to keep the timber industry economically
