When Should you feel Guilty for Killing Zombies?
What if your leg broke as a zombie crawled towards you inching his way to your death? What do you do? The most common answer will be to kill it. The situation that zombies would exist in a world with us would be similar to “The Walking Dead” (Kirkland, 2010) where you would have to deal with zombies on a daily basis. The zombies I plan to use are what some people call The Infected; they need to bite to spread the disease. You shouldn’t feel guilty, you should grab a blunt object and bash their heads in.
Sometimes, in order to survive, you need to kill some zombies. If you need to survive, exterminating zombies will become a daily activity, so if you feel guilty for every one of the living dead you kill, the stress of your own guilt would cause multiple problems to your mind and body. Using words like zombie, walker, or biter separates us from them, and keeps us considering them anything but human. The problem with that theory is that the undead are slowly decaying while the living are surviving. Another problem is that humans have emotions as the deceased don’t. The only thing they know is the need to eat, therefore, there is no way we can consider zombies humans in any, way, shape, or form. As you will not be killing a living thing, you should not feel guilt. Therefore, you must take action by being prepared. The more you adapt to annihilating zombies, the easier for you to survive and keep the infection at bay. Also, being mentally and physically able to slay zombies, in any situation, without the guilt of killing humans. These are the reasons why you shouldn’t feel bad about slaying zombies.
