Throughout the past decade, a deep, insightful question has been brewing in minds of people around the world. This question that has been addressed several times is, should kids be allowed to play football before high school. The amount of times this question has been debated is immensely high, however the answer is clear and indisputable. Because of the increasing safety precautions and taught values of teamwork and discipline, kids should be allowed to make the choice to play football at any age. When most parents consider the idea of their kids playing football, their first major concern is the safety risks. However with the new safety advancements and technologies, the risks are lower than ever. The first major safety advancement in football equipment is the improvement of the helmet. Helmet producing companies for all levels of competitive football are adding newer padding to the inside of the helmet, and developing the design of the exterior to ensure complete safety. A parent of a kid who plays football in middle school says, “football is a terrific tool for learning how important teamwork is” (Schwartz). This is true in many ways as you can learn what it is like to work together with your peers and aim for a goal. Playing football allows kids to work with other kids in effort to achieve something, which helps prepare them for their future. When these kids have jobs in the future, applying the value of teamwork that they learned from playing football, will allow them to thrive in their environment. Having a coach is similar to having a boss, and having teammates is just like having coworkers.
